Controversy soon arose about the nose stripes on the engine. Many said that they were incorrect. Norfolk Southern hustled the engine into their paint shop and gave the locomotive it's correct stripes.
The front and rear nose logos were redone larger with a white border, white nose and pilot striping were added, the side nose flags were reduced in size, and the end handrails and step edges were changed from yellow to orange to more better replicate the original Lehigh Valley units. The changes were done at Altoona and were completed 06-11-2012.
