Photo 7: Black River and Western Railroad of Ringoes, NJ purchased in 1997 former Green Mountain Railway, VT, EMD GP9 # 1848, nee-Bangor and Aroostook RR # 76. The locomotive built in 1954 is seen here was being used on the Bel-Del line in Phillipsburg, NJ by Belvidere & Delaware River RY, a subsidiary of BR&W.
The GP9 is still sporting the Green Mountain paint scheme with the black "Batman" logo on long hood nose just below the four headlights on January 16, 1998 @ 1047 hrs. Train is sitting just north of the CNJ bridge. The #1848 is currently leased to Novolog Bucks County at Morrisville, PA. |
